uNight: for the children of Uganda is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building an effective grassroots constituency in the United States and United Kingdom to help end the 20 -year long war in northern Uganda and to provide long-term humanitarian assistance to the child victims.

uNight works closely with grassroots and faith-based organizations, student groups, and the private sector to raise public awareness and find innovative ways to address this neglected humanitarian catastrophe.

uNight’s strategy is to create an active network of concerned citizens in the United States, especially among college students and school-age children, in order to:

  • Petition the White House to appoint a special envoy for northern Uganda to oversee a successful peace negotiation to end the civil war, the dismantlement of the camps, the resettlement and rehabilitation of the displaced population, and a comprehensive program of reconstruction, youth education, and training, especially for young girls
  • Petition Congress to convene a special hearing on the humanitarian crisis in northern Uganda
  • Mobilize humanitarian relief, especially medicine, clothing, and school supplies, for the victims of this vicious war
  • Promote a comprehensive program for youth therapy and rehabilitation, education and leadership training, and the revival of sports for the thousands of children and youth who have known nothing but war and suffering

uNight is unique in that its vision and programs are driven by the Ugandan people who are deeply informed by onsite connections, and whose commitments go beyond rhetoric.  uNight has formed partnerships with established local organizations, religious leaders, and grassroots elected officials.
